UPDATE: Smyrna Police Charge Two Teens in Shots-Fired Incident
UPDATE: The Smyrna Police Department (SPD) has arrested two teenagers in connection with a shots-fired incident that took place on Saturday, Sept. 20.
Through an investigation, detectives were able to identify an unnamed 17-year-old and 18-year-old Damir Carter of Smyrna as the suspects involved. They were both taken into police custody without incident on Friday, Sept. 26.
Detectives also executed two residential search and seizure warrants, at which time the alleged firearm from this incident was recovered. The firearm recovered was found to have an obliterated serial number.
The suspects were taken to SPD, where they were charged with first degree reckless endangerment, third degree assault, and several other crimes.
Carter was arraigned and committed to the Department of Corrections in lieu of $29,000 cash bail. The juvenile was arraigned and released upon posting a $99,000.00 secured bail.
SMYRNA, Del. – The Smyrna Police Department is investigating a shots-fired incident that took place Saturday afternoon.
At approximately 2:49 p.m. on Sept. 20, police responded to the 500 block of Barley Court within the Sunnyside Development for a report of a vehicle collision with shots fired. Officers responded to the scene and discovered several unoccupied vehicles that were damaged from the collision.
A preliminary investigation revealed that two suspects approached an individual in their vehicle and brandished a firearm. One of the suspects proceeded to enter the vehicle, and the victim proceeded to flee by driving. The victim struck four additional unoccupied vehicles before coming to a stop. During the course of this incident, the suspect shot one round inside the victim’s vehicle prior to fleeing themselves.
