UPDATE: One man dead after officer-involved shooting in Cambridge

UPDATE: The Independent Investigations Division (IID) of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General has identified the decedent and the Cambridge Police Department (CPD) officer involved in the fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred on Thursday, September 4, 2025, in Cambridge. 

The decedent is identified as 30-year-old Ryan Garcy of Cambridge, Maryland. The involved officer is identified as CPD Corporal Jacob Weber, a 6-year veteran of the department. Corporal Weber is with the Patrol Division. 

The IID continues to investigate the circumstances of the shooting. Anyone with information about this incident, including cell phone or private surveillance video, is asked to contact the IID at (410) 576-7070 or by email at IID@oag.state.md.us.

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – One man is dead following an officer-involved shooting in Cambridge.

Around 5:00 p.m. on Thursday evening, Cambridge officers responded to the Deep Harbor development around Seaway Lane and Riverview Wharf following reports indicated that a man with a knife was chasing a woman.

While on scene, officers encountered the man with the knife and asked him to drop the weapon. The man refused to do so and began to approach the officers. In response, one officer discharged his gun, hitting the man multiple times. Officers immediately began performing life saving measures while waiting for EMS response.

The man was flown to Tidal Health in Salisbury where he eventually succumbed to his injuries. Right now, police are only identifying him as a 30-year-old Caucasian man from Cambridge.

The investigation is on-going.
