UPDATE: 15-Year-Old Shoots Stepfather in Cambridge
UPDATE: The Cambridge Police Department (CPD) identified Jaheem Mortaz Brown as the 15-year-old involved in the residential shooting that occurred on Friday, Sept. 5.
Upon officers arriving at the scene, they found Brown exiting the residence, and took him into custody without incident. CPD obtained a search and seizure warrant for the residence in an attempt to locate the gun that was involved, but was unsuccessful.
A witness reported to police that she had been sitting in her vehicle with the victim on Skinners Court, when Brown struck the vehicle with an unknown object. The victim reportedly exited the vehicle, at which point Brown brandished a firearm and shot the victim in the face. The witness stated Brown then pointed the firearm at her before fleeing on foot towards High Street.
Due to current Maryland Juvenile Reform Laws enacted by Maryland Lawmakers, Brown was not able to be questioned to find out a motive or the whereabouts of the firearm. Due to the nature of the crime, Brown is being charged as an adult. He was later turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections on No Bond, and has been charged with attempted murder and assault, amongst others.
