Sussex Central volleyball takes down Tech in three sets

GEORGETOWN, Del. – Sussex Central girl’s volleyball beat Sussex Tech 3-0 at home on Tuesday night in Delaware.

The Golden Knights took the first set without much drama 25-15.

In the second set, Central quickly opened up a 13-3 lead, but the Ravens answered with a run of their own, drawing to within one at 16-15. After The Knights were able to stabilize and close out the set, taking it 25-17.

Sussex Central won the third set 25-9 to complete their victory in the match.

Even with the clean sheet, Central Head Coach Mike Adams felt like his team can play better. “We played really well in spurts, and we made too many mistakes. So, to be quite honest with you, we weren’t up. We didn’t have enough energy,” Adams said, “Even though we won three-zero, the energy was not there.”

The Knights are now 5-3 on the season with a match at Parkside coming up on Friday, October 3. Coach Adams said that their fundamentals will be key in the big game, “The focus is to figure them out, you know, figure out what’s our best game plan going in, and really how to be better at the basics. How to do the fundamentals and do them over and over, repeatedly better than the other team does. Usually what happens is the team that does that is going to be the team that comes out on top.”
