Shatter the Stigma Walk is back for year 4

SALISBURY, Md. — Wor-Wic Community College is hosting its fourth annual Shatter the Stigma walk Saturday.

The college is partnering with the Wicomico County Health Department to organize a morning of fun and support.

Wor-Wic social worker Amanda Keaney said the event gives organizers an opportunity to share healthy resources and love “It means that we’re very much part of the fabric of this community. We want to partner with this community and help the community move toward healthy resources and loving,” she said.

The event will feature vendors, face painting, free T-shirts, drinks, snacks and speakers discussing the importance of community during recovery.

“It’s a family event. Everyone gets to walk a mile in memory of someone they loved and lost. We have some dynamic speakers this year who have fully recovered and turned their lives around. So we’re just excited, and we welcome the community to join us,” Keaney said.
