Salisbury Folk Festival Looking for Volunteers
(SALISBURY, Md) – The Maryland Folk Festival is coming up, and there’s a need across Downtown Salisbury going into the set up for the festival.
The need in question: Volunteers.
Carolee Greenwood says she’s excited to be volunteering for the Folk Festival once again, as she’s handling the transportation details.
She tells us, “Oh, it’s always important to have volunteers. I mean, this is a huge undertaking for the city and people coming from all over the place. And there are so many different venues and jobs to do that. There’s always room for more help.”
And Carolee is just one of more than 300 volunteers needed for the upcoming Folk Festival.
Organizer Caroline O’Hare says it’s the volunteers who make these Folk Festivals special year in and year out.
“Volunteers are the core of this festival, and they also make the festival incredibly special because this isn’t just a festival for the community, it’s by the community. So we have people that have been volunteering since 2018 that come back every year, that make plans,” says Caroline.
There’s certainly no shortage of duties for volunteers, and the Folk Festival has over 1600 volunteer hours available to fill.
Jeff Merritt has been volunteering at the Folk Festival for years. He says, “There’s so many different areas. You can volunteer, you can transportation or ice. Somebody has to put ice in the coolers. There’s so many different areas that you could help out in and the shifts.”
Not to mention that volunteering comes with its own perks; like getting to enjoy the fun of the Folk Festival.
“You’re right there in the footprint of the event. You can hear all the music. You can see all the acts and all the performing asses. It’s really a great experience,” says Jeff.
