Railroad Construction in Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. Construction is scheduled at the Elizabeth Street railroad crossing in Salisbury on Sept. 19.

Amtrak will begin repairing parts of the railroad next Friday. City officials said it is routine track maintenance and should not significantly affect traffic at the crossing.

They urged caution, noting that workers will be in the area and some sections will be blocked off for safety.

“It’s a long stretch of railroad that runs through the city, and different parts are in different states of repair,” said Nick Voitiuc, the city’s director of infrastructure and development. “At times, maintenance is needed. They do need to work on it. We have roads running right alongside either side of the tracks, so space is required for a work area.”

The construction is expected to be finished by the weekend.
