Preparing for Back to School Traffic
(SALISBURY, Md) – As kids get back to school across the Eastern Shore, that means the morning commute is going to get a bit more crowded.
Local Law enforcement agencies are already putting out tips to help keep drivers and pedestrians safe.
Some agencies are going a step further, increasing patrols in their communities to ensure kids are getting to school safely…
and keeping the flow of traffic going.
We caught up with some local parents about their kids getting to school safely, one said they’ve been lucky considering they live on the outskirts of Salisbury.
“I know a lot of a lot of these like one way roads or you know, one, one way each way roads, busses stop a lot. You got to be paying attention. It can, it can really slow down a commute. If you get behind a bus, it’s going to stop after stop after stop. But so far, we’ve had really good luck with his bus driver…” says Zachary Reid of Salisbury.
Other parents told us that the traffic shouldn’t be too much of a problem, especially for the kids once they get on the bus.
And some urged caution to others, saying if you’re going to be in a rush, to plan ahead.
Walter Summers, a Salisbury parent tells us, “The first day of school is always nervous because you don’t know how the kids are going to respond…All the traffic, all the people, you know, all the you know, where’s this where’s that getting caught up, It’s all well worth the wait.”
Law enforcement agencies across the area are also encouraging the public to get out earlier, that is if they want to avoid dealing with the back to school traffic.
