Philadelphia Woman Charged With Fatal Easton Crash
EASTON, Md. – On Wednesday, the Easton Police Department (EPD) extradited a woman in Philadelphia in relation to a fatal vehicle crash that occurred in Easton last summer.
On Jun. 13, 2024, EPD Officers were dispatched to the area of Ocean Gateway and Cecil Drive in reference to a single vehicle crash with injuries. Upon arrival, officers identified a silver 2015 Cadillac SRX, with Pennsylvania tags, partially off the roadway and facing the guardrail on westbound Ocean Gateway. Officers further identified an unconscious male passenger seated in the front passenger seat, and a female driver seated in the driver’s seat, identified as 58-year-old Cilicia Siler. Officers observed Siler to have slurred speech, glassy and bloodshot eyes, and the odor of alcohol coming from her breath. Siler stumbled when attempting to walk and collapsed twice before being placed in an ambulance. Based on the severity of the injuries sustained by the passenger and Siler, they were both transported to The R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland.
An investigation conducted by the Maryland State Police CRASH Team found that Siler was traveling at a speed greater than that of the posted speed limit when the vehicle went off the right side of the road, striking a metal guardrail. The vehicle then skidded left across the roadway, where it struck a second metal guardrail in the median. Siler and the passenger were both unrestrained occupants, and Siler was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
On May 28, EPD learned that the passenger had succumbed to his injuries sustained from the motor vehicle crash. This development, coupled with the investigation conducted by the CRASH Team, resulted in an arrest warrant being issued for Siler. Siler was arrested on a litany of charges, including negligent vehicular homicide while under the influence. She is being held at the Philadelphia Department of Prisons and awaits extradition.
