Perdue and Delmarva Shorebirds Announce Results of Strike Out Hunger

(SALISBURY, Md) – While another season of Delmarva Shorebirds baseball is in the books, there is at least one winner this season: Local Food banks.

The Shorebirds and Perdue teamed up for a season-long Strike Out Hunger campaign, setting a record this year with enough food donated to create nearly one and a half million meals.

That food has been distributed across the Delmarva Peninsula.

“So it means everything to be able to actually help our community in this way and to watch this initiative grow year after year and for our partners to want to do it year after year as well…We always want to top it. So between last year and this year, we doubled it. Last year we were at 688,000 meal equivalents. I believe this year we more than doubled it. We’d love to do it again next year,” says Perdue Spokesperson, Sabrina Fuller.

In a release Sabrina sent us, Perdue had raised the equivalent of nearly two and a half million meals from 2011 to 2024.
