(CHURCH CREEK, Md) – For 350 years, people have flocked to the banks of the titular Church Creek to observe mass at Old Trinity Church in Dorchester County.

Reverend Daniel Dunlap has been the pastor at the church for well over a decade, and gave us a history lesson of the church itself. As well as the number of times the church has fallen into disrepair.

Reverend Dunlap tells us, “You know, we can’t let things get so bad that the walls are caving in again because that at one time was the case back in the 1800s. You know, we’re very cognizant that this is a little piece of history…”

Deborah Roe has been the organist at Old Trinity Church for nearly 20 years…

And as she plays on her pipe organ, she spoke with us about how they’ve been celebrating the anniversary throughout 2025.

“It’s been exciting for us and a little bit stressful because of the historic services we’ve had to prepare that a little bit different, but exciting,” says Deborah.

And as they celebrate 350 years at the Old Trinity Church, both Reverend Dunlap and Deborah think about the legacy of the church.

“We realize we’re just passing through. We’re the steward. We’ve been entrusted with stewardship of this property, this building, the Glebe of land that surrounds it, the farmlands that are owned by the parish. We’re responsible for all of it,” says Reverend Dunlap.

While Deborah says, “I dearly love this church and I love being here. It’s what I prized most in my life.”

Old Trinity Church will be holding a special celebration on Saturday, September 27th. You can find details on the Church’s website.
