Oceans Calling 2025 invades OC inlet

OCEAN CITY, Md. The Oceans Calling 2025 Music Festival started Friday, and the crowds are rolling into the popular resort town. Thousands of people are walking the streets in downtown Ocean City and enjoying their time.

Cayden Simmons made the trip from Charleston, South Carolina, and said this is a first. “I’ve never been to a festival, and this is my first festival. The line is pretty long out here, but it ain’t too bad.”

Community members and tourists packed into the Ocean City Inlet to join the fun, headlined by acts such as Green Day, Weezer and Good Charlotte.

Joe Holland brought his family to the event from Greenville, North Carolina, and said the festival is one of the best in the country. “My wife and I came here at noon, and after an hour we were like, I wish J.W. was here. This is J.W. — he’s the fourth,” Holland said. “It’s just so safe and clean in there, with such a good family environment as well, we were like, let’s get this kid in there.”

The concert had eight different entrances, with the hope that it would consolidate the crowds more efficiently. Ashley Smith told WMDT the popular resort town is the perfect host.

“The thing about Ocean City is everything is right here. If you find a spot to stay close to the Boardwalk, you’ve got food, entertainment and nightlife. You can pop out, come see some bands and get some food, go back to the hotel for a little, and come back for more.”

Simmons agreed, saying Ocean City might have Charleston beat in the beach department. “You guys do have the better beaches. You’ve got nicer-looking water and better-looking sand, I’ll tell you that,” Simmons said. “It’s been nice, haven’t met one rude person yet, so you guys are doing better than us, I’d say, where I’m from.”
