Ocean City Rock & Ride Bike Fest is underway, and local businesses expect a boom
OCEAN CITY, Md. – The Ocean City Rock and Ride Bike Fest has gotten underway, and local businesses are getting ready to welcome customers during this popular event.
One of the trademark festivals in Ocean City started on Wednesday, and bikers are wheeling into the weekend.
Operations Manager of the Original Greene Turtle Dawn Hodge said, it’s a special time every time of the year. “My office sits over at Coastal Highway, and today it will start rumbling, and the rumbling will get louder and louder as the week goes on.”
Mark Augustyn is the owner of Mimi and Moto, a small vendor based out of Atlanta, Georgia.
“In terms of business for us, we were here last year, and we did really well, and if we hadn’t done well, we probably wouldn’t be back here.”
The festival will offer fun and festivities from the Convention Center to the inlet. For more information about the schedule, you can click here.
There will also be live performances at the concert village at the inlet. The boost in business is what Hodge said brings excitement to business owners.
“I love every minute of it. At some point, I’ll put my window up, because the rumbling means there is a lot of money rolling into town.”
Augustyn tells WMDT, the business makes books, clothing, and hats. His daughter inspired the company. “We now have four books out, and the goal of the brand is pretty simple, get more kids and youth excited about motorcycles.”
At The Greene Turtle Thursday, they will host a Hogs and Heroes fundraiser. This 50/50 night and basket raffle will go in support of a non-profit organization, according to Hodge. “From 4 to 8 is our annual hogs and heroes fundraiser that we do for the Maryland 8 chapter. This year we’re supporting Blue Star Survivors.”
A Blue Star Survivor is someone whose relative died while serving as a police or correctional officer.
The Rock and Ride Bike Fest will continue until Sunday, September 14th. For more click here.
