Kites will be skyward all over the Ocean City boardwalk this week

OCEAN CITY, Md. – A special event in Ocean City will take place this weekend, and community members are gearing up.

The 47th annual Kite Loft’s Sunfest Kite Festival will begin on Thursday, September 18th. It will last until September 21st, and is free.

Guests can bring a kite, or buy one there.

Owner Jay Knerr is extremely excited about the annual tradition. He said he hopes to see fresh faces at the event.

“We’ve been doing this a long time, and it’s a fantastic event. Not just for avid kite flyers, but for first-time flyers too who want to fly kites.” He continues, adding that the event creates memories. “It’s a great time to get out on the beach. Get away from your video games and enjoy a family day,” said Knerr.

The event is recognized as one of the top 100 most popular kite venues on the planet.
