Kitchen Fire in Denton Displaces Family of Four; Kills Dog

DENTON, Md. – The Denton Volunteer Fire Department responded to a residential fire on Friday morning that claimed the life of a family dog.

At approximately 10:10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, 15 firefighters responded to High Street for a structure fire. The fire was contained after five minutes.

A preliminary investigation determined an unspecified electrical event in the microwave was the cause of the fire. It was reportedly discovered by a neighbor who called authorities. Smoke alarms were present and activated at the time of the fire.

An estimated $120,000 worth of damages were incurred in this incident. A fundraiser has been organized for the displaced family of four.
