Humane Society of Wicomico County has reached maximum fluff capacity
SALISBURY, Md.- The Humane Society of Wicomico County is having cuteness overload. They explained that the shelter needs the community’s help.
Executive director, Kim Nock shared, “we’ve been in full capacity for about two years now. It’s kind of one out, one in, two out, one in. It’s a little overwhelming right now.”
Volunteers can help take care of dishes, laundry, mopping, and donations.
She added, “food, towels, bowls, any of that stuff, anything animal related. If we can’t use it here in the shelter, we have a consignment shop and then we will use that money towards something that we actually can use inside of the shelter.”
Nock said the main issue is overcrowding.
” this shelter was not built to save animals. It was built as a kill facility. So we don’t have the proper ventilation systems. So we treat a lot of animals for upper respiratory and kennel cough and stuff like that.”
At the same time, the humane society is trying to raise money for a new facility.
First, they need folks to foster and adopt.
If you’re looking to adopt, you can foster for two weeks as a trial run first. Nock urges people to do their research before they take an animal home.
