Feeling lucky? Powerball jackpot soars to $1.7 billion

SALISBURY, Md. – Students on the Salisbury University campus already have big plans if they were to win the $1.7 billion Powerball jackpot.

Some of them, like sophomore Kayleigh Penn, have already gotten their hands on tickets.

“I think I spent like 10 bucks, maybe $8,” said Penn.

While others, like Jaloni Watson just found out how much the jackpot is at, the third largest in Powerball history. She said she may be in the market for a ticket now.

“I’m not going to lie, it’ll be that one time… you never know,” said Watson.

Junior Kendall Heath is no stranger to the lottery. She said she might not be flashy with her funds if she ends up striking lucky and having the winning ticket, but…

“There would be some signs. But at the same time, I wouldn’t be splurging on a whole new wardrobe or anything… but yeah, there would be some signs,” said Heath.

With $1.7 billion up for grabs, Penn said this is your chance to change your life.

“Get your ticket. It’s such an interesting thing that we do as humans, is just put all this money in a pot; you might as well be a part of something,” said Penn.
