Delmarva Chicken Association hosts major conference for the U.S. poultry industry
OCEAN CITY, Md. – A major conference centered on the U.S. chicken industry kicked off at the Ocean City Convention Center.
The industry is very important to Delmarva, producing 4.6 billion pounds of chicken, and generating $4.8 billion in sales in 2024. The event brings about 430 attendees of scientists, researchers, and academics.
Holly Porter, the Executive Director, says the Delmarva Chicken Association’s conference has already covered many topics.
“So we’re talking about a lot of poultry health diseases, we’re talking about new technology, especially looking within our processing facilities. We’re talking about things happening now, as well as the things that will happen in the future.”
Before the National Meeting, DCA hosted its College Scholarship Golf Tournament at Glen Riddle Golf Club in Berlin, Md.
The annual tournament devotes 100% of its proceeds to DCA’s College Scholarship Program, which earlier this year awarded scholarships totaling $23,500 to 12 students pursuing careers in the chicken community.
