Delaware State Police Investigating Fatal Crash in Millsboro
MILLSBORO, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a car and a motorcycle that took place on Saturday evening.
Around 7:00 p.m. on Sept. 13, a Honda motorcycle was traveling northbound on Dupont Boulevard at a high rate of speed. Upon approaching the intersection at Centerview Drive, the motorcyclist failed to stop at the traffic signal.
At the same time, a Chevrolet Malibu was in the right westbound lane of Centerview Drive, proceeding into the intersection following a green light. The front of the motorcycle struck the front left side of the Malibu, and the motorcyclist was subsequently ejected.
The motorcyclist, 52-year-old Brian Irons of York, Pennsylvania, was pronounced dead on the scene. His identity was disclosed by police on Monday morning.
The driver of the Malibu, a 21-year-old man from Millsboro, was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
