Clippers sink Vikings for first win of the season
SALISBURY, Md. – James M. Bennett football shut out Cambridge-South Dorchester 19-0 on Thursday evening in Salisbury, claiming their first win of the season.
The dominant defensive effort for the Clippers started early, with Bennett recovering a fumble deep in Vikings territory to begin the game. The turnover led to a touchdown pass from Liam Nelson to Marcus White Jr.
Bennett would force two more turnovers on interceptions, making for three takeaways in the first quarter alone.
The Clippers expanded their lead with a touchdown run from White Jr. in the second quarter.
With a 12-0 lead late in the fourth quarter, Bennett freshman Braelon Jones Gregory picked off Vikings quarterback Nathan Twilley and returned it for a touchdown, sealing the 19-0 victory.
Now 1-1 after their first win of the season, James M. Bennett will now prepare to play Parkside at 6 p.m. on September 18 at Wicomico County Stadium in Salisbury.
