Cambridge Teen Arrested on Rape Charges

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – An 18-year-old was arrested in Cambridge on Monday evening after officers responded to a call reporting an attempted rape.

At approximately 7:29 p.m., Cambridge Police contacted the female victim who reported that Nazir Maki Perry, an 18-year-old from Cambridge, had been speaking to her in her backyard when he began to make statements in a sexual context. The victim then informed Perry she was going inside of the house. When Perry asked to follow her in, she denied him entrance. The victim reported that Perry then forced his way into the residence, locking the door behind him and began to assault her, attempting to take the victim’s clothing off. The victim reported that Perry eventually was able to partially remove her clothing and ended up sexually assaulting the her. The victim was able to escape from Perry by running out of the residence to a next-door neighbor who she asked for help.

The Cambridge Police Department dispatched a K9 Unit and a Drone Unit to assist in the search for Perry. A witness reported to officers who were not familiar with the incident that they had just given Perry a ride to his residence in the 100 block of Mariners Way. The Drone Unit was able to pinpoint the residence where Perry was dropped off and was utilized for surveillance until other officers and K9 Unit could arrive at the residence. Perry was located inside of the residence and placed under arrest.

Perry was transported to CPD for processing where Detectives conducted further investigations. At the conclusion of the investigation, Perry was processed and later turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections on No Bond. Perry was charged with the following: attempted rape in the 1st and 2nd degree, assault in the 1st and 2nd degree, reckless endangerment, and false imprisonment.
