White Marlin Open wraps up quiet day four
OCEAN CITY, Md. – The White Marlin Open wrapped up a quiet fourth day of fishing on Thursday.
Only four boats elected to brave the Atlantic, with none bringing a catch to the scale.
The big moneymaker remains the 72-pound white marlin reeled in by Dan Gough on Billfisher on Wednesday–worth north of $4.2 million dollars as it stands–with Monday’s 929.5-pound blue marlin caught by Drew Osmeyer on Barbara B still standing to pull in over $1.2 million
Despite a lack of activity on the dock, Marlin fest was still in full swing, with fans coming out to enjoy the weather, vendors, and community of the White Marlin Open.
Tournament Director Madelyne Motsko said the tournament crew doesn’t always mind a break from the usual mayhem: “We kind of look forward to these days. We have a small crew of people pulling this thing off, so on a slow fishing day we all get to take a little bit of a breather. Still a really fun crowd here at Harbour Island, we have all different kinds of things to engage the crowd: music and vendors, still a really fun atmosphere here.”
