Police agencies across Worcester County looking at mutual aid agreement
WORCESTER COUNTY, Md. — Worcester County police agencies are considering a mutual aid agreement that would allow them to provide assistance to one another, regardless of municipal boundaries.
The proposed agreement would enable police to share equipment, resources and personnel as needed.
Worcester County Sheriff Matt Crisafulli said the agreement would enhance response times and resource allocation. “This allows municipal officers to enter county jurisdiction at the request of the county in urgent matters and circumstances,” he explained.
Crisafulli emphasized that the agreement would benefit all officers in the county. “This type of agreement is a win for everyone,” he said.
However, not all police agencies in the county have signed off on the agreement. The Ocean City Police Department is still reviewing it, and it will be presented to the city council for a first reading.
