Looking to start a business? SU wants to help.
SALISBURY, Md. – Starting a business can be tough. You start with an idea that you have to turn into a reality, and for many, money can be the barrier between that dream.
But assistant director at the Dave & Patsy Rommel Center for Entrepreneurship, Bryan Bourdeau said they’re providing that push that many need, through the IgniteWorks program.
“On average it takes about six months minimum to be incubated. So you have this idea, you have this opportunity that you want to develop, so [we’re] giving you incubation, or private office space, then exposure to us, as mentors,” said Bourdeau.
That six month incubation includes an open garage space to flesh out ideas, until they hatch into a full fledged business.
Competitions coordinator, Heather Brooks said they offer the participants a number of resources to help them along their journey.
“It could look like consulting with TMC accounting to streamline their finances, working with D3 Corp. to develop a digital marketing plan, or the small business development center, to refine their business plan,” said Brooks.
With the application deadline set for September 24th, Brooks encourages Wanna-Be-Tycoons to take a chance on the school, and on themselves.
“Small businesses are the heartbeat of our community, and many need access to that professional expertise,” said Brooks.
