Labor Day Weekend Heroes
SALISBURY, Md- As we enjoy the holiday weekend- first responders will be on duty.
Summer is coming to an end and the Salisbury police department expects this to be one of its busiest holiday weekends.
Chief David Meienschein said they will have extra officers out on patrol to help make sure everyone stays safe.
“It’s the propensity of more people out and about doing things, the likelihood or the possibility of injuries there. But primarily what we do with here in Salisbury police department is accidents again will be out in the neighborhoods patrolling to make sure everybody’s safe. So rest assure that.”he said.
Police officers, firefighters, and EMS all help keep the Eastern Shore afloat every day of the year so as we celebrate the holiday weekend. Chief Meienschein said it’s important to appreciate our first responders because while most of us get holidays off, they don’t.
“A lot of folks, if they have an emergency or a situation, that’s the time we hear from the public. But occasionally we do get those calls just saying that our officers get a job and they appreciate it. And that goes that means a lot to us as well.”
The police department is open 24/7 so call for any emergency. This holiday weekend, it’s also important that if you see something say something.
