Introducing the Edward Q. Wilgus Community Clinic in Salisbury
SALISBURY, Md. — Health Beat sponsored by TidalHealth is a new segment on WMDT, coming to viewers every Monday on Good Morning Delmarva.
On the debut edition, TidalHealth announces the opening of the Edward Q. Wilgus Community Clinic at 805 E. Church St., in Salisbury, Md.
At the facility, patients can access primary care, behavioral health services, telehealth services, lab draws, education, financial counseling and more. The clinic will also be a place for residents in the TidalHealth Internal Medicine Residency to practice under the supervision of attending physicians.
Jennifer Ketterman, MSN, APRN-CNP, CRNP, administrative director of primary care, OB/GYN and pediatrics for TidalHealth, shares how the Wilgus Clinic came to be.
“It’s fitting we take you to the site of what was hoped to be the first hospital in the region,” Ketterman said.
“So, the history of this site is that in the 1890’s, Dr. Naylor had a vision to make this the first hospital in the region,” Ketterman said. “This was before Peninsula Regional was built, and he had the space built out, it was operating as a clinic for four years until he passed away. Unfortunately, when he passed it was never able to come to fruition with his vision. Now its gone through an evolution over the years, it did become a hotel at one point. Now it is back to providing health care services in this community which was his ultimate goal when he was here.”
“The opening of this community clinic really allows us to provide quality care close to home,” Ketterman said. “Being in this location, it’s not far from Peninsula Regional, but it also provides care. It’s a beautiful space. It’s a beautiful building, and it provides care directly where patients are living, close to their community. And they can access excellent care close to where they live.”
“So, this building is absolutely gorgeous. We have a center central, rotunda area that, is two stories high. It’s just absolutely beautiful. Lots of natural light that comes in There are, a lot of woodwork features in the building,” Ketterman said. “They really tried to keep some of the features of the Hotel Astor that was here before. So, there’s a lot of curvature. It’s just a beautiful building. Patients can schedule an appointment in a couple different ways. One way is to call the office to schedule. If you are active on my chart already from another title, health office, you can go on your my-chart and schedule a new patient appointment.”
