Foodie Friday: Chaiyo

MILFORD, Del. – You’ll find some of the tastiest dishes at Chaiyo in Milford.

Chef Jacques Jordan prepared a spread fit for a queen, filled with everything, from fragrant and authentic Thai curry to perfectly rolled sushi.

WMDT’s Leila Weah first started by trying the rainbow roll.

“This one tastes like, I can’t confirm, like they pre rolled some wasabi in it, which I’m not mad at,” Leila said, eyeing the sushi. “I typically don’t like wasabi; it has that kick. There’s definitely something spicy in there and I can tell why this is one of their famous, bestselling rolls.”

Chef Jacques also hooked Leila up with her favorite, drunken noodles.

“It’s got all that delicious peppers and beef in it, and I love drunken noodles,” said Leila, with a smile. “Drunken noodles are my kryptonite; they’re the best type of noodles to have.”

It wouldn’t be a Foodie Friday segment if Leila didn’t try something out of her comfort zone.  The crew presented her with a heaping plate of shichimi fries.

“This is poutines better cousin, shichimi poutine. This is something I’ve never seen before– I’ve never seen this at a restaurant, so when they brought it out, my jaw was on the floor, because I was like, what is this?” Leila said.

Leila took a big bite of a fry that was topped with all the fixings.

“I think that works really well together, surprisingly. I never though seafood and fries would be on my menu,” Leila said.

Leila, of course, had to save the best for last. She tried Chaiyo’s famous captains curry, a gigantic bowl of hearty soup filled with all the seafood you could think of.

“This was a beautiful dish that I think if you come here, this is one that you can’t leave the restaurant without trying. This is such an amazing bowl of curry,” Leila said, taking another bite.

You can check out Chaiyo at 929 N Dupont Blvd, Milford, DE. If you dine there, make sure you tell them you saw them on Foodie Friday.
