Dorchester Preparing to Paint the Town Purple for Addiction Awareness

(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – Health officials are getting ready to paint Cambridge purple for an ongoing tradition.
Dorchester Goes Purple starts in September; a month-long initiative to help raise awareness around drug use in our community, and kick it to the curb.
County leaders tell us this effort has actually helped lower drug-related deaths year over year, and they hope to keep bringing the number down with this year’s event.
“What we’re trying to do is educate folks, trying to get to kids early. We do a lot of work with youth, both at the high school level and earlier to try to help them understand. We try to prevent addiction from from happening and substance abuse from happening…” says Dorchester Chamber of Commerce President, Bill Christopher.
The kick-off event will take place on Tuesday, September 2nd at the Dorchester County building in Cambridge.
