Delaware rolls past Europe-Africa to earn semifinal berth

ROXANA, Del. – Delaware defeated Europe-Africa 11-0 in five innings to advance to the Senior League Softball World Series Semifinals in Roxana on Friday.

Delaware opened up a big lead early, scoring five runs in the bottom of the first inning, with an RBI sac fly from Kayla Kruger, a two-RBI single from Jordynn Bowe, and a two-RBI triple from Taylor Lowe.

The offense resumed in the bottom of the third, with three RBI base hits from Lowe, Mariah McCabe, and Kruger– along with a fielding error–netting Delaware six more runs to expand their lead to 11-0.

Delaware starter Cierra Lewis finished allowing zero hits and zero walks with four strikeouts in three innings of work. In relief was Makenna Blades and Autumn Willie, each giving up one hit in one inning pitched respectively.

Delaware will play the West Region in the semifinal at 8 p.m. on Saturday at Lower Sussex Little League in Roxana.
