Delaware punches ticket to World Series final with dominant win over West
ROXANA, Del. – Delaware advanced to the Senior League World Series with a 9-1 win over West in the semifinals in Roxana on Saturday night.
The host team jumped out to a big lead in the 2nd inning, courtesy of a two-run bomb from Taylor Lowe and RBI singles from Kimora Harris and Cierra Lewis, giving Delaware a 5-0 advantage heading into the third.
In the bottom of the third they extended their lead with RBI singles from Adeline Lutz and Karly Kruger to make it 7-0.
Lewis capped off the scoring for Delaware with a two-RBI double in the fifth that was inches from leaving the ballpark and ending the game.
The score was 9-0 in the top of the seventh when West got on the board with a bases-loaded walk drawn by Kaimana Sui.
Starter Cierra Lewis pitched five shutout innings for Delaware, allowing six hits and issuing one walk with two strikeouts. Makenna Blades pitched the sixth inning in relief, with Autumn Willie closing the game in the seventh.
Delaware will play the Central Region team for the Senior League Softball World Series Championship at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Lower Sussex Little League in Roxana.
