Crisfield PD Welcomes New K9 Unit
(PITTSVILLE, Md) – The Crisfield Police Department is welcoming a new member to their ranks, filling a position that had been vacant for over a year.
K9 Cara is the newest, and furriest member of the force.
She’s being trained to sniff out drugs, a job not done by a dog Crisfield for since the former handler and K9 unit left.
K9 Cara’s handler told us a bit more about what that process entails.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity that we’ve been presented with and just really excited that I think me and her are going to get along really well. I’ve able to watch videos of her doing her thing and learning how to search and find stuff. And I’m excited to get to know her and have a long relationship with her,” says Cara’s Handler, Tyler Gillespie.
The Throw Away Dogs Project brought K9 Cara to Crisfield.
She was originally a shelter dog.
