2025 Marlin Fest has returned at Ocean City inlet
OCEAN CITY, Md. – On the other side of Ocean City, an extension of the White Marlin Open is taking place at the Ocean City Inlet. Marlin Fest is back again, and community members are having loads of fun.
Loren Manzione said the White Marlin Open truly takes over the popular resort town. “Everyone loves this. The white marlin is like the Super Bowl of fishing. Everyone loves to see the big boats, the people, the community. It’s just a huge rally.”
If you’re not at Harbour Island watching the weigh-ins, Marlin Fest gives you the chance to experience the “Largest Billfish Tournament” in a unique way. James Badger works with local vendor Old Town Windbells, a company that sells decorative bells for homes and establishments. Badger said they came out to the festival to get more eyeballs on their products.
“We’re out here selling bells and fishing.”
Another vendor, George Kalwa, sells fine art paintings. He skipped last year’s festival due to health reasons. He said this is his second time participating in the White Marlin Open. He told WMDT that he prefers Marlin Fest because of the space for his business.
“It’s more open than the White Marlin Open weigh-in, where people can mill around. So that’s really nice.”
Kalwa showed WMDT Reporter Ronnell Foreman some pieces. Most of his work is based on marlin, tuna, and swordfish. He hopes community members come out to the festivities to see his work. “I’m showing off my paintings. I have some brand-new pieces,” said Kalwa.
The 2025 Marlin Fest will feature live music, food, drinks, merchandise, and a live-stream of weigh-ins for those who can’t make it out. Resident Loren Manzione describes the festival as a great time for fun and camaraderie. “There’s a lot of shops, knickknacks, and beer is always flowing.”
The event will run until August 10, from 11 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. every day.
