Worcester Indivisible holds demonstration to honor civil rights activist John Lewis
OCEAN CITY, Md. – Demonstrators packed the West Ocean City Park & Ride on Friday to protest the Trump administration.
Indivisible Worcester organized the event and stood along Route 50. The purpose of the demonstration was to remind people of the courage of John Lewis, a civil rights activist who died five years ago this week.
Organizer Susan Buyer said she hopes to share the importance of exercising individual rights as an American.
“Your vote is precious, almost sacred. It’s the most powerful nonviolent tool we have to create a more perfect union,” she said. “As the people – we the people of the United States – have power, and this is our power.”
The nonprofit organization also plans to hold a demonstration on 14th Street during the White Marlin Open, in hopes of getting its message across.
