Two units merge to create Intermediate Care Unit at TidalHealth
SALISBURY, Md. – TidalHealth is launching a new Intermediate Care Unit at the Salisbury hospital.
The Progressive Care Unit and the Layfield Critical Care Unit are joining forces to better serve patients who come through the hospital’s doors.
Director of critical care, Erin Tobat said the merge will help limit travel for people seeking care.
“It puts together the talent and the skillset of the nursing team, the providers, our ancillary folks, to provide the best care for our patients in the place that they need it the most,” said Tobat.
The unit will be home to 28 beds and will have brand new, state-of-the-art technology, to assist with collaborative efforts among care takers.
“When the walls are out, you have the opportunity to add in some more AV support, maybe some digital whiteboards, maybe some incorporation of devices that we already have, our cellphones, our tablets, iPads, those types of things, so we’re really excited to incorporate that in our future state,” said Tobat.
And with the new upgrades, Chief nursing executive, Angie Brittingham said TidalHealth will become an even more attractive facility for future doctors and nurses to work at.
“Having these abilities with higher acuity care, and our graduate medical education program, these are all steps in the direction of ensuring that’s the case for our team,” said Brittingham.
The transition will begin on July 29th. It will not disrupt any care.
