The Clean Team are the unsung heroes of Delaware State Fair
HARRINGTON, Del. – Many wonder how the Delaware State Fairgrounds stays looking so good despite thousands of people coming through each day.
A group known as the Clean Team is the unsung hero of the state fair. They are on the front lines and keep the operation running smoothly.
On its seventh day, the fair is packing the grounds with fairgoers and keeping the fun going.
Whether it’s sweeping up after vendors or picking up trash left behind by visitors, the Clean Team is one group that deserves credit.
Rose Carter works as a team member and loves what she does. “We come around, work with the Clean Team, we do the concession area, make sure all the tables are clean, and make sure the ground is clean and swept.”
Team member Kyaire Matthews finds purpose in her job. She feels people overlook all the work the team does.
“I feel like we are underappreciated because a lot of people don’t realize we help clean up, or they do know we keep it clean.”
Carter hopes for the same, stating that fairgoers should be more kind and appreciative.
“Start by feeding us. There are food vendors out here, and we get hungry. They could give us a food voucher. We are hungry.”
Make sure to say hello to members in their bright green shirts. And if you’re feeling spontaneous, give them a bottle of water or food.
