Ocean Pines to hold meeting for proposed cell phone towers

OCEAN PINES, Md. – A virtual town hall is scheduled to discuss proposed wireless cell phone towers in the community.

Representatives from Milestone Communications and Verizon Wireless will be present at the meeting.

The proposal includes a 130-foot monopole, along with ground equipment required to operate the facility.

Police Chief Tim Robinson said the issue has been ongoing.

“I was here for the Fourth of July; it was my first summer as police chief,” Robinson said. “I’m trying to make phone calls, and they won’t go through, and the more people I talked to, the more I realized had similar problems. And this is when I realized this could be a real problem.”

There is currently no timeline for when the project might begin.

The meeting represents the first step in moving the proposal forward.
