Md. DNR contributes funds for Eastern Shore projects

MARYLAND. – $20 million in Maryland Waterway Improvement funds will be spread across communities on the Lower Eastern Shore.

The money will help revitalize waterways in the tri-county area and Dorchester County.

Somerset County will receive the biggest chunk of change, $4.5 million for restoration and facility improvements of the Somers Cove Marina. Officials will also use $400k to construct a stone breakwater, a type of tide protection, to preserve the Tylerton Harbor.

Meanwhile, at the Cambridge Marina, a half a million dollars will help construct a new wave attenuator and replace timber decking.

In Salisbury, the Cedar Hill and Leonard’s Mill Park boating ramps will be improved, for easier access for boaters, to the tune of $500k.

And the Gorge Landing and Pocomoke State Park in Worcester County will be seeing a generous sum of funds. $1 million will go towards shad landing marina improvements, and $250k will help restore the George Island landing boating facility.
