Kids take center stage at the Delaware State Fair
HARRINGTON, Del. — The Delaware State Fair was all about the little ones Tuesday, as children 12 and under were granted free admission to a day filled with family-friendly fun.
From petting zoos to thrill rides, the fairgrounds were bustling with activity. Kennedy Kotowski was among many kids who enjoyed getting up close with her favorite animals.
“Cows, sheep, pigs and some goats,” she said with a smile.
While some preferred the animal exhibits, others were drawn to the excitement of the amusement park. Adeyemi Bongongui and Kaitlyn Panzer shared what they loved most.
“Some of the rides and some of the games they have here,” Bongongui said.
Panzer added, “The Cyclops, the Ferris wheel, and the drop thing and the pirate ship.”
Families poured into the fairgrounds, seizing the opportunity to enjoy a sunny day together. Sisters Scarlette and Selah Dupiche made it out to the fair with their younger brother and their mom.
“It’s nice getting lemonade and being able to hang out with my family on such a beautiful day,” said Scarlette.
For the Dupiche family, the fair is more than just a one-day outing—it’s a tradition.
“You should totally come to the fair. It’s a great experience,” said Selah. “I loved coming here last time. I mean, it’s really fun. There’s a bunch of cool snacks and drinks you can have—and there’s also stuff that’s free too.”
Bongongui agreed, saying, “If they can’t make it, then they’re missing out, because it’s a lot of fun.”
The Delaware State Fair continues through the week, offering a mix of agriculture, entertainment, food, and family fun for visitors of all ages.
