Hooper’s Island Prepares for 1st VFC Golf Cart Parade

(HOOPER’S ISLAND, Md) – On Hooper’s Island, they’re preparing for their own 4th of July celebration.

The Volunteer Fire Company will be hosting their first annual golf parade and poker run tomorrow.
People from across Dorchester County have been signing up for both, leading to the grand prize jumping from five hundred to three thousand dollars.

The Volunteer Fire Company is thankful for the overwhelming support for the first-time event.

“Oh, it’s spectacular. I mean, it’s so nice. Nice to have a family community event where everybody’s involved. You know, and everybody’s just doing their part. They’re excited about it. You know, we just didn’t want to just do a poker run. and we did the parade…,” says Volunteer Firefighter, Christine Balcar.
