Foodie Friday: Longboard Cafe
OCEAN CITY, Md. – When you’re out eating at a nice restaurant, like Longboard Cafe in Ocean City, your phone always eats first.
You want to take those aesthetically pleasing photos and post them, so everybody knows that you’re eating good food, and owner Rick Vach brought out some Instagram worthy plates for Leila to try.
First, Leila started with their exclusive duck nachos, an item that’s not yet on the menu.
“Duck kind of tastes like chicken, which I guess that kind of makes sense, because it is a bird,” said Leila, laughing to herself. “I like this; I like the chipotle sauce that they put on top.”
Leila started with a land animal, but next it was time to try something from the sea. The chefs made their catch of the day, a piece of cod, caught right in our backyard. They topped it with fresh lump crab and paired it with russet potatoes.
“I really like the crab on top of the fish. I’ve never had that in a dish before, and I’m glad that I did have it because it’s such a unique pairing,” said Leila, taking another bite. “I’ve only ever had that in a seafood boil, so I really like how everything was plated together.”
Leila wrapped up her tasting with Longboard’s famous crinkled green beans.
“I love green beans, they’re always so refreshing, especially when it’s getting hotter outside,” Leila said. “These are like edamame’s cooler, better cousin, especially with this glaze that they put on top. It really just gives you a burst of delicious sweet and savory flavor.”
If you’re looking for a summer spot right on the coast that doesn’t just offer the good eats, but the good vibes, too, then look no further than Longboard Cafe, at 6701 Coastal Highway in Ocean City, Md. And tell them you saw them on Foodie Friday.
