DSF concludes with 4-H Awards Ceremony

HARRINGTON, Del. – The final day of the Delaware State Fair on Saturday saw the 4-H awards ceremony in Quillen Arena, recognizing all the outstanding work from the young 4-H members that participated at this year’s fair.

4-H is an organization that empowers young people and encourages them to explore their passions and develop skills they will be able to use later in life.

Participants ages 5 to 19 entered, exhibited, and demonstrated their hard work and skills at this year’s fair in categories ranging from public speaking to agricultural skills and science. Many were recognized across multiple disciplines.

12-year-old Rhett Watson received a number of honors for his performance in the archery competition. In his age group, Rhett took home first place in all 3 archery categories: barebowrecurve, and compound.

On what it was like to sweep the competition, the young archer said, “It was pretty awesome, especially since I put in a bunch of hard work…I was feeling pretty confident because we shoot out in the yard all the time and practice. I practice almost every day.”

He noted that barebow was his favorite of the three categories: “I think barebow is the best because you just gotta figure it out. You’ve got string blur and all that stuff to pay attention to, and if you just get that right you can have them in there.”
