Dorchester Co. Tourism Heritage Mini Grant Still Open

(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – Dorchester County’s Board of Tourism is still accepting applications for those looking for a mini-heritage grant.

It’s called the Heart of Chesapeake Country Heritage Area Mini-Grant… and if a museum, municipality or non-profit has a project that boosts the heritage of Dorchester, they can apply for matching grants of up to five thousand dollars.

Previous grants have helped to fund things ranging from historical events to preservation planning.

Dorchester Tourism Director, Holly Gilpin gave us a couple of examples of what they’re looking for from applicants.

“Any one that’s a nonprofit that has a heritage story to tell or to emphasize, they can do a grant on this. It can also be an interpretive grant. It means that you’re having a a book signing and you’re going to have an author come and you want to talk about the waterman history,” says Dorchester Tourism Director, Holly Gilpin.

The deadline for the mini-grant will be August 1st. If you are interested in applying, you can view the forms on Dorchester County Tourism’s website.
