Delmarva Power, how to save money on your next bill

Salisbury, Md-  Temperatures are rising once again, so could your energy bills.

Locals Valerie and Copeland McKenzie shared, “You know, our light bill used to be really low. Now it’s way up like almost double. Yeah. And really low, but say a little more reasonable. But now it’s just skyrocket high and it’s like, what can we do?”

As we start to see warmer temperatures, David Tancredi, a supervising engineer at Delmarva Power, shared tips on the best ways to save energy.

“It’s really come down to two things insulation and what you’re keeping your air conditioning at in the summer. That can be a real big driver of how much your air conditioning is running. We usually recommend people keep their thermostats at 78 degrees. ”

He also recommends keeping your window shades low and checking if cool air is blowing out of your vents.

“Most customers think it’s their smaller appliances. How many times are doing wash? How many times are doing the dishwasher? How many times you know how many PlayStations they might have with their kids or things like that? And that’s not really the big driver in the summer. It’s it’s air conditioning.”

The McKenzie’s said they’ve tried those tips and they don’t always help, “we try to, you know, go easy and, you know, the usage and the bills still come in.” they added Delmarva should lower their costs. “I think they should they should consider lowering their rate. You know. I think it can be better, it can be better.”
