Crowds Go Hog Wild as Kevin Bacon Races to Victory
HARRINGTON, Del. — Two races were held at the fair today — a new corgi race event made its debut, and a fan favorite followed closely behind.
Fairgoer Mallory Smith, attending on day two, said the annual tradition keeps her coming back.
“We come every year for the fair,” she said. “Pig races are what we’re here to see.”
As crowds arrived this morning, most of the buzz centered around the upcoming pig races. Fairgoer Levi said it’s a must-see event.
“I’m excited to see pigs run because when one of them wins, everybody goes wild,” he said. “Stuff happens when the pig wins.”
Smith echoed the excitement.
“The big reason I’m excited for the pig races is because they run really fast, and the crowd goes crazy when the pig wins,” she said. “Yeah, that’s what I’m excited about.”
Spectators waited in anticipation as the pigs took their marks and the race began.
Kevin Bacon took home the win this afternoon, but he’ll face a full week of competition ahead.
“My piggy was number two, and he was the best,” Levi said. “So I really voted for him. I’m really proud of him.”
The Hollywood Racing Pigs will run twice a day every day.
