City of Cambridge encourages residents to use online system to report concerns
CAMBRIDGE, Md.— As the City of Cambridge expands its use of OpenGov, a digital system designed to manage and respond to citizen concerns across multiple departments, officials are encouraging residents to use the city’s official website to report issues or requests.
The most efficient way for residents to submit comments, complaints or service requests is through choosecambridge.com. On the homepage, under the “Popular Links” section, a tile labeled “Report a Citizen Concern” links to the submission system.
Residents can select the appropriate city department based on the type of concern. Each department page includes a short description and a simple online form for submitting issues.
Concerns related to building and code enforcement are handled through OpenGov. While this form operates differently, it allows users to submit complaints from phones, tablets or computers. Submitted concerns are automatically routed to staff for review, prioritization and response. Staff can also track, assign and update cases, as well as generate reports to better target problem areas and improve service delivery.
While residents may be tempted to email individual city staff, elected officials or post on social media platforms like Facebook or Nextdoor, the city strongly recommends using the Report a Citizen Concern system. This ensures that issues are sent to the appropriate staff and backed up by multiple team members in case of absences. It also allows supervisors to monitor and manage submitted concerns more effectively.
