Berlin holding an auction to sell off old street signs
BERLIN, Md. — The town of Berlin is holding an auction, offering old municipal items.
Recently, the town replaced several street signs to improve visibility and comply with the Maryland Department of Transportation. Now, the old signs are going on the auction block to help fund the development of a new community center.
Mayor’s Assistant Sara Gorfinkel is leading the project and said it has been a long time coming.
“The auction has been open since July 1, and we have over 150 people registered and bidding on signs every day,” she said. “Some of the signs are going for over $300. The auction is open until July 15, and it closes at noon. People need to get their bids in between now and Tuesday.”
