Berlin falls short in Maryland State Major League Championship
SALISBURY, Md. – Berlin fell to Montgomery County 1-0 on Friday in the Maryland State Major League Championship at West Salisbury Little League.
A pitcher’s duel through and through, the lone run in the game came in the top of the fifth on an RBI single from MoCo’s Landon Hodges that dropped into center field, scoring Jaden Cuevas.
Berlin threatened in the bottom of the fifth and sixth, but was unable to break through.
Berlin’s starting pitcher Landon Bounds pitched all six innings, allowing just four base runners on four hits and striking out six.
For Montgomery County, Ben Murphy led the way on the mound giving up just three hits and fanning four across 5.2 innings, with Colton Jamieson recording the final out of the game in relief.
Berlin Little League’s Major All-Star team ends their season as runner-up in the state of Maryland.
