Woodbridge baseball graduate Austin Griffith prepares to tackle the next level

GEORGETOWN, Del. – After a great 2025 season, Woodbridge baseball graduate Austin Griffith is preparing for his next challenge: playing at the college level.

In his senior season Griffith earned a 2nd-team all conference selection in the Henlopen South as an outfielder, previously being named 1st-team in 2023 and 2nd-team in 2024 as a utility player. He led his team in hits in 2025 with 17, and was second in runs scored with 13.

Griffith–along with the other Woodbridge seniors in the class of 2025–helped lead the Raiders baseball team to the postseason three times in the past four years, after the program had only made the tournament twice in the 39 years prior.

Griffith was selected to represent Woodbridge in the annual Blue-Gold All-Star Game at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington. “It was pretty cool. My goal going into the senior season was to make the Blue-Gold Game. That was one of my biggest goals, so when I got the text that I was selected for the game, I was pretty excited for it,” Griffith said.

In that All-Star exhibition which ended in a 9-9 tie, Griffith went 2-2 at the plate with an RBI single, a double, a walk, and 2 runs scored, including the game-tying run in the 9th. On top of his offensive output, Griffith flashed his defensive prowess, recording an outfield assist. For his overall performance, he was named Player of the Game, something Griffith himself never saw coming: “I really didn’t think I was going to perform that well, to be honest. But, I went out there and just kind of played loose and did it. It was pretty neat, actually performing pretty good in that big of a game.”

Looking back on his Woodbridge career, Griffith considered what he would remember most from his time as a Blue Raider. “My coaches and my teammates for sure,” he said definitively, before adding both team and personal accomplishments, “And then just making the playoffs three out of four years and being able to play in the Blue-Gold Game one last time for Woodbridge and represent them.”

With the beginning of his college baseball days at Del Tech fast approaching, Griffin reflected on how he developed over the course of his high school career at Woodbridge, saying, “I definitely learned to work harder and keep my head down while I’m working hard. Just to block out distractions and stay focused on what the goal in mind [is].”

Griffith said that Del Tech’s proximity to his home was a significant factor in his decision to play there. He also expressed his desire to move on to a four-year school after his time at Tech. “[I want to] play these two years at Del Tech–maybe one if I’m lucky enough–and then eventually move on to a bigger school that will take me and I’ll continue to play baseball,” he said.

Griffith will be joining a Del Tech baseball program that has made two NJCAA Region 19 Championship appearances in the past five years under Head Coach Stu Madden.
