Wicomico Co. Council selects David Ennis to represent District 3
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – David Ennis is a familiar face on the Wicomico County council.
After a more than 20-year hiatus, he’s back to represent district three, filling previous council member Shane Baker’s vacant seat.
From education, to maintaining the stability of our agriculture industry, Ennis said he wants to help strengthen the county, but there’s one sector in particular he wants to address.
“There are a lot of solar projects sprouting up around the county, and recently, just this last legislative session, a bill was passed by the state of Maryland,” said Ennis. “I think it was a bad bill, which basically strips all local authority and oversight for solar.”
That piece of legislation he’s talking about is Senate Bill 931, which would prohibit local jurisdictions from adopting certain laws or regulations to deny solar development.
Ennis said on the Shore, that could impact farmers, and he plans to use his role to advocate for them.
“I’m very concerned about that. I think that should be raised to the level of attention for our council and for the community at large,” said Ennis.
With his previous experience as a council member, and serving on several local committees, Ennis said he’s ready to hit the ground running and serve his constituents.
“I do hope to bring my experiences and knowledge to the table with the county, and I just want to do the best I can to serve the county at large and my district three, of course,” said Ennis.
