Three arrested in connection to Easton bank robbery

EASTON, Md. – Three people have been arrested in connection to a bank robbery in Easton earlier this month.

The investigation began on June 2nd, when Easton Police were called to a reported bank robbery at BayVanguard Bank, located at 501 Idlewild Avenue. It was learned that a man wearing a white long sleeved shirt, white pants, black shoes, black sling bag, lime green baseball hat, and sunglasses walked into the bank, approached a teller, and asked for money. The man reportedly handed the bank teller a note demanding money while brandishing a firearm. He obtained an unknown amount of money and fled on foot, last seen running towards Idlewild Park.

Through a joint investigation with the FBI, detectives obtained surveillance footage that showed the suspect getting into a parked car on Idlewild Avenue. Further investigation revealed that 21-year-old Makhyla Jenkins drove 20-year-old Jeremiah Carter and 31-year-old Deondre Williams, to Idlewild Park. Williams then got out of the car and returned a few minutes later with the stolen money in hand, subsequently identifying him as the robbery suspect. Jenkins then dropped off Williams and Carter in the area of Kelley Gibson Street.

During the late night hours of June 6th, detectives obtained a search and seizure warrant for the residence at 39 Kelley Gibson Street, which was linked to Carter and Williams, obtaining further evidence of their involvement in the bank robbery.

Arrest warrants were obtained for all three suspects. Jenkins and Williams were arrested on June 18th, while Carter was arrested two days prior on June 16th.

Williams was charged with first and second degree assault, armed robbery and robbery, firearm use in a violent crime, handgun on person, reckless endangerment, theft $1500 to under $25,000, handgun in vehicle, and conspiracy.
